Questions members ask
You can see everything Theins knows, and everything it did.
A great assistant remembers what matters and forgets what you ask. Theins keeps what it learns about you on one page you can read, and keeps a ledger of every booking, payment and message it handled for you, with the yes that allowed it. Nothing is hidden from you, and nothing is sold.

What Theins keeps, and what it never keeps
Theins keeps only what helps it act for you, and drops the rest before anything is saved.
Theins keeps
- What you tell it you like: the corner table, the aisle seat, the florist your mother loves
- The people and pets in your life, and what they are to you
- Plans in progress: the Aspen trip, the birthday on Saturday
- What happened: the table it booked, the flight it changed
- Limits you set: “keep it under $5,000”
Theins never keeps
- Passwords
- One-time codes
- Card and account numbers
- Small talk that does not help it act for you
- Anything you tell it is off the record
Card details and sign-ins never travel through the chat. They go through a secure form into your vault, sealed with an encryption key that belongs to you alone, and it opens only with your passkey.
How memory works
Every message you send passes the same five steps, in this order.
- 1
Guard. Anything that looks like a password, a code or a card number is dropped before anything is saved. Theins only notes that something was removed.
- 2
Correct. If you say “that’s wrong” or “forget that,” Theins changes its memory exactly as you said, before it learns anything new.
- 3
Learn. Anything useful becomes a note in your own words, marked as something you said or something Theins worked out, with how sure it is. When something changes (“I fly out of LAX now”), the new note replaces the old one.
- 4
Tidy. Each night Theins tidies what it learned and keeps a short summary of each person in your life.
- 5
Recall. When you ask for something, Theins pulls up only the notes that matter for that request, and records which ones it used.
So you never have to fill in a profile or repeat yourself, and you can always ask Theins why it did something. It will show you the notes it used.
The ledger
The ledger is the record of everything Theins did for you. It is a plain list in your account, not a blockchain. Every entry answers three questions: what was done, who allowed it, and how we know it happened.
An example, as a member sees it
| When | What Theins did | Who allowed it | Proof |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 21, 7:43pm | Sent Sarah the dinner details | Your yes, 7:43pm | Delivered |
| Oct 21, 7:42pm | Paid the $200 deposit at Ardent | Your passkey, 7:42pm | One-time card, charged once |
| Oct 21, 7:41pm | Booked Ardent, 4 at 8:30pm | Your yes, 7:41pm | Restaurant confirmation |
| Oct 21, 7:40pm | Searched tables for 4 near Sarah’s hotel | Allowed without asking | Three options found |
| Oct 2, 9:15am | Forgot your old address | You asked | Removed from memory |
- Who allowed it. Searching and looking things up happen on their own. Booking waits for your yes. Paying waits for your passkey, every time. No message can change those rules.
- Proof. “Booked”, “paid” and “sent” appear only when the restaurant, airline, store or carrier has confirmed it. If Theins is not sure, the ledger says so, and so does Theins.
- Forgetting is recorded too. When you ask Theins to forget something, the ledger shows that it did, without repeating what it forgot.
You can ask in the thread at any time: “What did you do for me this week?” or “Why did you book that?”
Your controls
Everything here works by text, and on your memory and ledger pages.
| You want to | Text Theins | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| See what Theins knows | “What do you know about me?” | A link to your memory page, every note in your own words |
| See what Theins did | “What did you do for me this month?” | A link to your ledger |
| Know why | “Why did you pick that?” | The notes it used for that reply |
| Fix something | “That’s wrong, I’m vegetarian now” | The old note is replaced, at once |
| Forget one thing | “Forget my old address” | Removed from memory and from every summary built on it |
| Limit what it can see | “Disconnect my calendar” | Access ends; nothing more is read |
| Take it all back | “Delete everything you know about me” | Every connection ends and every note is cleared, after one confirmation |
Limits on spending are yours too. Set them once (“never more than $500 without asking”) and no message, from you or anyone else, can raise them inside the thread.
Who else handles your data
Theins works with a small number of companies to deliver messages, run its models and make bookings. Each receives only what its job needs. Naming them is the point of this page.
| Who | Why | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Messaging carriers (Sendblue, Twilio, Zernio) | Deliver texts between you and Theins | Your messages to and from Theins |
| AI model providers (xAI, with Anthropic as backup) | Understand your request and write the reply | The request and only the notes needed for it. They may not use your data for their own purposes. |
| Browserbase | Runs the private browser Theins uses on sites without a partner connection | The pages Theins visits for you, in a session kept separate for each member |
| Stripe | Issues the one-time card for each purchase | Amount and merchant |
| Restaurants, airlines and booking platforms | Fulfil the booking | What the booking needs: name, party size, time, contact |
| Railway | Hosts Theins’ servers and database | Stored data |
This list is kept current from the data map in our security documentation. Last updated Placeholder: date of the last update
What we will never do
- Sell your data, or share it with advertisers or data brokers. There is no advertising in Theins.
- Charge anything without your yes.
- Ask for your passwords by text.
- Text anyone on your behalf who you have not asked it to reach.
- Show your private notes in a group chat or to people you have linked.
- Let a message from someone else, a website or an email change what Theins is allowed to do for you.
Questions members ask
Does a person at Theins read my messages?
No one reads your thread as routine. Placeholder: when staff can see a thread, for example to fix a failed booking you report, and that each access is logged
How long do you keep my conversation?
Texts, and the records of how each answer was produced, are deleted after 90 days. What you taught Theins stays until you change it or delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
If I delete something, is it really gone?
It is removed from your memory and every summary built on it, and the ledger records that it was forgotten without repeating it. Placeholder: how deletion reaches the messaging carriers, once that is in place
Is Theins training AI on my conversations?
The AI providers that help answer you may not use your data for their own purposes. Placeholder: the model providers’ terms on training and retention
Why should I trust an AI with my card?
Theins never sees your card number in a text. Each purchase uses a one-time card for that exact amount and store, and it needs your passkey, every time. Saved cards are sealed with a key unique to you. More at Private by design.
Can Theins act without asking me?
Only to look things up. Booking waits for your yes, paying waits for your passkey, and both appear on your ledger.
How we keep it private, in plain words: Private by design. The legal document is our privacy policy.
